Casting is Done for Last Cigarette!
We have finally finished casting for Last Cigarette. I'm happy with the progress of everything with the film. My team has done a great job and I send thanks to all of them. Here is the casting and crew list, with a synopsis. Shooting should begin in January.

Youtube Censorship and The Blackout
I recently heard that youtube has made a decision to change a policy to no longer feature videos with vulgar language, and violence. Well I did more research on this and I found out that it was worse than I originally thought when I first heard about it. Apparently the new policy moves these videos out of areas of most viewed categories, and areas like that. This tells me one of two things. Either youtube has gone completely mainstream because of google taking over, or youtube has given in, to complaints of people who don’t understand things like artistic integrity. Either way this is a loss for all of us as filmmakers/ v-blogers/ ECT, professional, and amateur alike.
If it is because youtube has gone mainstream, that tells me that basically speaking, big business Hollywood has spread to the Internet. The Internet! The place where we are supposed to have our complete freedom of speech. The place where we all can express our selves in whatever way we want to. I’m not saying that it is Hollywood, at least directly, but it could be indirectly. What this does is contain us as small time filmmakers, and would help keep us from prospering, or at least slow us down. This can and will hurt many of us as filmmakers and fans of filmmakers creating videos that may have this content.
Now if it ended up being because of unintelligent people complaining about language, and violence. Someone is going to have to slap youtube for being stupid. These people who complain about this content forget about their most basic of rights. They forget that they don’t have to watch any of that content at all. All they have to do is close the window and ta-da! The video is gone! Anyone with an education to at least high school, probably junior high understands that when it comes to entertainment, the people who are NOT complaining, are most like the majority, and are enjoying the content. I’m not saying there aren’t people who over do things, but it’s their right to over do it. I know youtube has numbers that would be able to prove me right, if they looked at them. All it is, is just comparing the number of complainer with the number of non-complainers. I’m positive that I don’t need to say more on that.
This whole thing youtube has decided to do is not good for all of us as filmmakers. It’s pretty much a form of censorship. I believe that most people out there would agree, to at least some point.
I would like to also add that I’m not the type to use vulgar language all the time. In fact I rarely use it in any of my films. Also with violence, I guess it would depend of the project I’m working on. I’m only stating this just to add to my point.
Now that my point has been made, I would like to talk about the YOUTUBE BLACKOUT everybody has been talking about. This is a response to youtube’s new policy on language and violence. It takes place between December 19, 2008 and goes to December 20, 2008. That is the time to whom ever is participating will NOT be going to youtube at all to post and view videos. They will also NOT be using google, the youtube parent company. Why is this? Well since google is the parent company they control the policies youtube has. The point of this blackout is to hurt revenue for them. And in turn this will hopefully cause google and youtube to change the policies. Will it work? I don’t know, but I do support the cause.
Please understand that this is just my personal opinion and may not reflect the opinions of Round Table Reels.

Auditions For my new film LAST CIGARETTE
I just wanted to post up something talking about new auditions coming up for our new film Last Cigarette. Here is the info on it.
What: Auditions for the new Roundtable Reels film Last Cigarette
When: Sunday December 14th at 7 PM-9:30 PM.
Where: 2521 Sunset Avenue-The “Old Sunset School”-may use side or back entrance.
Character Breakdown:
*Must be 21 or older to audition.
Rick: male, 20’s-mid-30’s, handsome, Humphrey Bogart-type, a hopeless romantic, cool with a self-possessed swagger, the owner of the bar, must be able to show vulnerability and emotion, must be willing to do kissing scenes.
Lauren: female, 20’s, a spirited, witty, mysterious, classic Hollywood leading lady, must be willing to do kissing scenes.
Jay: male, 20’s- 30’s, attractive, cocky but likeable, a ladies’ man, Rick’s bartender and friend, a charming jokester.
Bob: male, must pass for 30’s-50’s, hard-boiled archetype from a film noir, loyal patron of the bar, a down and out drunkard, still possesses a sense of humor, likeable.
Veronica: female, 20’s, a sexy, kittenish, flirty patron of the bar, minor role.
Lauren is all ready cast.

Post The Indies Theatrical Premier
First off I'd like to thank everyone that came to the premier. It wouldn't have been as fun or as great with out all of you. I hope the next time around will be even better and more fun. I hope to have the pictures up from it soon.
This was the first time I personally had a theatrical premier of anything I have worked on. This was a learning experience. There was a lot of work I had to do to prepare for it, and I would make sure I had more time to do it next time. I would have to say the hardest thing to work on was the marketing for the premier. The one thing anyone has to remember when you're marketing, marketing takes time. It's a long process, and you probably wont see it take effect for a while. You have to be very patient.
Well all in all, I think that the premier went well. We had a few hiccups, but it did end well. I was surprised with how many complement we had gotten on the show, and there isn't anything like watching the crowd react the way you hoped to just about every scene to something you produced. Thanks again to all of you who came to support us.

Film And The Economy
Today I've decided to talk about current events. At least to a small degree, and how it can effect us as Indie Film Makers.
As we all know our economy today is in a recession. That tells us that people are going to be worried about how they spend their money, and about current events in the world that could effect our economy even more. My initial reaction to this is that, our lives in the film world are going to be harder. I thought this because, in history the arts really exploded and boomed during a time where the economy really boomed itself. Thus telling us times are going to be hard in the arts field including in film. Well after further thought and many discussions with both people in the film industry and the average Joe, I came to a conclusion. Those concepts I stated above may not apply to the film industry. In fact it may help us more than ever. Now I know you may be asking why? The answer is rather simple. With everyone worried about our economy, and current affairs, they are going to need an escape. Us as film makers supply that escape with our videos, movies, and tv shows. As you can see many of these people go watch movies, videos on youtube, and tv show for this reason. Heck a major example is on opening weekend for Beverly Hills Chihuahua it was the highest grossing movie. When a movie like that is top in the charts, you know that the people are hurting for not only entertainment but an escape from reality, and the problems of the world.
As you can see now my friends. An economic recession can actually be an opportunity for all film makers. Well, I guess that's all for now. In the words of Funny Man, "I'll catch you on the flip side." (The Boondock Saints)

The Beginning
This is my first real written blog I am doing. I'm going to start off by talking a little bit about myself. I'm a small time film maker. I'm the founder/owner of Round Table Reels. I work with a group of talented film makers who feel the same way I do about film. Right now I'm in the process of producing a TV show and a few film shorts. I got into the business because I'm not too happy with what the industry has been coming out with in quite a few years, that and I just enjoy everything film has to offer.
